Bookkeeper vs. Accountant | Accounting Services for Small Business

If you’ve been using the titles Bookkeeper and Accountant interchangeably, there is no judgment, I totally understand the confusion and I’m here to clear this ish up. If you know me, you know I love a good sports analogy so to make things easy, we’ll go with sports.

Think of it this way...

The Bookkeeper is the athlete. Just like Kobe taught us, do the work using the information given to you. Shout out to the GOAT, RIP #mambamentality

The Accountant is the coach. They are there to analyze what’s being presented to them and make a few adjustments and corrections to ensure the athlete’s work is ready for competition. If they’re a top notch coach, they’ll be channeling their inner Phil Jackson to level up your game. Teamwork makes the dream work, baby.

As the biz owner, where do you fit in?

To keep it all within the analogy, you’re the GM (General Manager) and it’s your responsibility to communicate where you want to take the team and what the overall strategy is (championship or bust).

Things run smoothly when you know what’s happening on all sides which means you need to understand what your bookkeeper and your accountant are doing.

All athletes go to training camp before the season starts

Just like any great team, you have to put in the work and sometimes things can get hard but it’s always worth it in the end. Think of Bookkeeping Bootcamp like training camp that will teach you the basics of bookkeeping, financial analysis, and much more so you can live your best GM life.

We’ve all seen athletes who slacked on training in the summer - don’t be like them, set yourself up for success during the off-season. You’ll be able to guide your coach and your athlete to victory without even having to leave the owner’s box.

Set yourself up for a successful season (CHampionship Trophy, we comin’ for ya)

Tapping into knowledge doesn’t just bolster your confidence, it sets you free to build your business and the finances you’re actually excited to look at! Move the needle, scale your business or just lessen the stress, you deserve it.
